Pursuing Dreams and Adventures
I made the decision in March to leave my job and focus my time and energy on the dreams and ideas that had been heavy on my heart. It’s been a wild six months and I’m in no way close to settled personally or professionally but I would say that it was one of the best decisions I have ever made.
It seems that people often see a career in photography or filmmaking in such a romantic light, and while there are perks to the job there are also plenty of long days and lots of work. In thinking about it I have come to realize that I could work every day for the rest of the year and probably feel like there would still be work to do. That being said, I have had the opportunity to travel to some of the most beautiful places in the pacific northwest and I have met and interacted with some amazing people.
I was interviewing someone the other day and he said “It’s all about the people,” and I couldn’t agree more. I’ve been to amazing places, tasted food prepared by talented chefs, and worked on some pretty cool projects but at the end of the day the people behind the stories that I’m trying to tell are what make it all worth it. There are conversations that I will never forget. There are memories that I will forever cherish. There are new friends some close by and others several hours away. In the end, my goal on this blog is to tell those stories and encourage anyone and everyone to run after their destiny. It’s maybe not always quite that simple but any movement towards those dreams, ideas, and passions are definitely worth it.
